Sports support for school athletes of the Federal District delegation 2017

The different opportunities offered to men and women in sports training are the subject of this research. The aim of this study was to verify if there was a difference of support between the sexes in the school sports delegation of the Federal District that participated in the Youth School Games in 2017. The sample was composed of 157 school athletes, male and female, between 15 and 17 years old, who were part of the delegation of the Federal District at the Youth School Games in 2017. To collect the survey data, a questionnaire was developed on the Google Forms platform, sent by email to all school athletes from the delegation of the Federal District. Data on access to public and private initiative support were collected and a statistical analysis of this information was carried out. The results showed greater access by female school athletes, both in public and private support, however, it is in the public power where the most significant difference occurs. It was concluded that, despite the differences present in society, which dedicate greater support and opportunities to the male sex, the School Games are a space in which this logic is not confirmed, and, in this way, the event expands its importance for growth and sports development of female athletes.
