Aim and Scope
Olimpianos – Journal of Olympic Studies aims to promote the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge related to Olympic and Paralympic Studies, considering their historical, social, cultural, political, sporting and educational dimensions.
The journal provides an interdisciplinary space for dialogue among researchers, professors, students, professionals and institutions interested in Olympism, sport and education, contributing to a critical analysis of their manifestations and impacts on society.
Its scope includes theoretical, empirical and applied research organized within the following fields:
1. Olympism, society and culture
Historical, sociological, philosophical, anthropological and cultural studies on the Olympic and Paralympic Games, their values, symbols, protagonists, legacies and relationships with society.
2. Governance, policies and sport management
Research on governance, administration, management, legislation, public policies, sports institutions, event organization and sport development.
3. Communication and promotion of sport
Studies related to journalism, communication, marketing, advertising, social networks and digital media in the Olympic, Paralympic and sporting contexts.
4. Olympic Education and pedagogical practices
Studies on Olympic and Paralympic Education, values education, citizenship education, pedagogical practices in school Physical Education and the use of sport as an educational resource. Research on teacher education aimed at developing Olympic and Paralympic values will also be considered.
